It’s more than just a treatment… 🤍
Why I do what I do — and why it’s not about looking different
In clinic, I often see two types of clients: those curious but cautious, and those who have done “a bit of everything” already. And sometimes, their stories are two sides of the same coin — both searching for an improvement in their skin, and for it to show in their confidence
A few weeks ago, I had a review with a client after her first-ever aesthetics treatment. She was initially nervous, very against the treatments she had seen in the media and had held off from even entertaining the idea of injectables for years. But what we spoke about at her review was more than just physical effects — it was the personal impact. She told me:
- “I feel more confident in myself.”
- “I’ve started wearing bright colours I never would have before.”
- “No one’s asked what I’ve had done — but they all keep telling me I look fresh.”
- “I actually like what’s looking back at me in the mirror.”
She even told me that she had gone into a beauty shop and played with makeup — something she’d never felt confident enough to do before. (We finished her appointment with Jane Iredale Afterglow and she left looking- and feeling glowing- plus no bruising despite three treatments!)
It really highlighted to me that for most of us, these treatments aren’t about trying to look different or even drastically better. They’re about feeling better, more like yourself, and being able to check in with their reflection with more positivity than before.
But confidence doesn’t always come from the first treatment — sometimes it’s a journey of unlearning too.
Another client of mine had been having Botox and filler for years — but only those. She didn’t believe in the power of facials or skincare beyond her usual at-home routine. She came to me after a few disappointing experiences elsewhere and we started by managing those previous results.
Over time, she began to mention the laxity in her neck — something that couldn’t be “filled” or frozen. I gently suggested a course of microneedling with exosomes which she booked reluctantly— and after her first three treatments, she was hooked. Her words:
“This is the best treatment I’ve ever had.”
She immediately booked her fourth maintenance session and has already locked in her next one.
It wasn’t just about the results — which she started noticing right away and even more so over time. It was the compliments from family, friends, the glow, and the feeling that her skin looked healthy, lifted, and hers again.
So why do I do what I do?
Honestly, as a mental health nurse in my previous life I always wanted to help people feel better. Unfortunately, the NHS was not the place for me to do that. Ironically, it’s the place that comes with some blood, pain and tears (not my favourite part of the job I promise!)
Even I underestimated the power that some of these treatments have.
I often get asked ‘are these treatments addictive?’ The treatments/ substances involved with treatments are not. However, the way you feel from the results, that is!
That’s the magic.
Lots of love,

(Just a little personal reflection on my own confidence journey; the last few years have had there ups and downs, but investing in your skin isn’t just about looks, it’s about showing up for yourself and if that means you look fresher… then what a bonus!)
